How do I change my display name?
If your account is active:
Log in via the iRacing desktop launcher or at members-ng.iracing.com
Click your helmet icon
Select Account
Under Account Info, click Request Change next to your display name
Review and accept all required policies (all must be accepted to proceed)
Click Continue
Enter your desired display name
Provide a reason for the change
Click Submit Name Change Request
Once submitted, requests cannot be edited, and only one request can be active per account at a time.
What happens after I submit a request?
Our team reviews requests in the order received
Most requests are processed within a few business days
You’ll receive an email once a decision is made
What if the name I want is already taken?
You’ll see: “This name is not available. Please try another.”
You can submit a new request with a different variation by following the name change guidelines.
What if my request is denied?
Requests may be denied for several reasons, including:
The name is already in use
You are under 18 (parental consent is required)
The name is incomplete or formatted incorrectly (e.g., single letters as first or last names, numbers, symbols)
The account is shared, transferred, or not originally created for you
The name violates iRacing policies (e.g., inappropriate, fictional characters, gaming tags, etc.)
Why does my current name have numbers in it?
Numbers are automatically added during registration if your name is already in use.
To remove the number, you’ll need to:
Add a middle initial, or
Choose a different variation/spelling that isn’t already taken
I’m concerned about privacy, do I have to use my real name?
Display names must follow iRacing naming policies.
However, you may request an alias as long as it complies with those policies.
What if I can’t submit a request?
Please contact support at support@iracing.com if:
Your account is inactive or suspended
You are under 18 and need assistance
Your request involves multiple accounts
